Program Overview & Objectives

The CS Innovation Award (with Grant) is the flagship recognition program of the UP Diliman College of Science. It honors student researchers, faculty members, and project teams whose laboratory breakthroughs demonstrate exceptional potential to resolve national and global challenges.

Award Packages & Grant Support

Award recipients receive competitive grant funding administered through OADRE to support prototype development, regulatory certification, field testing, or customer discovery travel.

Undergraduate Student Category

For outstanding senior undergraduate theses classified as 'I' (Innovation). Includes institutional certificate of recognition and seed prototyping grant.

Graduate & Faculty Category

For master's, doctoral, and faculty-led research with validated proof-of-concept. Includes scale-up funding, commercialization mentoring, and patent facilitation.

Evaluation Criteria

All nominations are rigorously evaluated by an interdisciplinary panel according to:

Technological Novelty (30%): Distinct advantage over existing commercial or scientific solutions.
Feasibility & Readiness (30%): Clear evidence of repeatable lab data, working prototype, or validated model.
Societal & Market Value (30%): Demonstrated need, target user adoption potential, and economic impact in the Philippines.
Team Commitment (10%): Willingness of the research team to participate in commercialization mentoring.
